Glasgow University R&R Medicine Society 2020 conference (Fort William)
April 16 2020 - April 19 2020
Glasgow University Remote & Rural Medicine Society (GURRMS) is a student run society of Glasgow medics. Our aim is to open medical students’ eyes to what a career in rural medicine is all about.
This 4th conference brings together medical students from all over the UK to Fort William for a conference about rural medicine. In the past we have convened in Islay, Skye and Orkney. As well as interesting talks and workshops our conference will be about showing off and experiencing the culture of rural Scotland.
The £70 ticket includes:
- Entrance to the conference which will be packed full of speakers from remote and rural healthcare, workshops and student presentations.
- 3 nights accommodation in hostels in Fort William.
- Transport by bus from Glasgow on Thursday evening and back on Sunday morning.
- Dinner and ceilidh after the conference.
- Teas, coffee biscuits and lunch on the conference day.
- A day of activities on Saturday: free time to explore Fort William and have a wee drink and explore the Fort William nightlife.
- Opportunity to present posters or speak at the conference about an area of rural or remote health you have experienced. Start preparing your abstracts now!
- A chance to make connections with students from other unis and doctors working in the Highlands and Islands for those illusive elective and SSC contacts.
Fort William is the outdoors capital of the UK with lochs, walks and Britain’s highest mountain! Surrounded by distilleries, sport and activity and cute pubs and cafes there is loads to fill your free day at the conference It’s time to check out tripadviser for Fort William’s best pub and dig out your hiking boots and start training for Ben Nevis.
