EU qualified General Practitioners (GPs) can often find the registration process in the United Kingdom challenging. Although it might seem daunting, it is achievable and the Scottish Rural Medicine Collaborative (SRMC) is here to help.

Here are the five basic registration steps for EU qualified GPs.

Step 1
Demonstrate your knowledge of the  English language. Certification from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Occupational English Test (OET) are acceptable.

Step 2
Apply to the General Medical Council (GMC) to join the GP Register.

Step 3
Apply to join an induction or returner programme.

Step 4
Apply to join the Scottish Performers List. Entry to one of the fourteen Scottish Health Board’s list also includes you on all other Health Board lists, so you can work across Scotland.

Step 5
Prepare for employment checks.
