SUMMARY:NHS Scotland Event (Glasgow)
DESCRIPTION:Please come and chat to the SRMC team on stand 75. \nThe NHS Scotland Event is the leading health Event in Scotland. The Event continues to be the ‘premier meeting place’ for those committed to providing sustainable high quality health and social care services for the people of Scotland. \nEvery year\, the Event provides the opportunity for those working in and with the NHS in Scotland to come together to consider the challenges faced\, to share best practice and the most innovative approaches to delivering the highest quality of care and to take away tools and techniques that will support them in their various roles. \nThe need to drive greater improvements and address the numerous challenges of developing a health and social care system that is fit for 21st century Scotland are well-rehearsed. People are living longer and increasingly need services that can support multiple health conditions. At the same time\, parts of Scotland continue to experience health inequalities. While all public services are affected by financial challenges\, these are being particularly felt in health and social care due to the increasing demand for services. The key to meeting these is transforming the care people receive from the NHS and other public services\, working together to deliver improved outcomes. \nOur aim for this year’s Event is to shine a light on key areas where NHS Scotland and its partners are driving that transformation\, while at the same time ensuring the delivery of quality care – across boundaries and throughout the stages of people’s lives. \nThe triple aim of improving quality of care\, improving the health of the population while securing value and financial sustainability continues to guide our priorities for health and social care. Through the relentless pursuit of our Quality Ambitions for person-centred\, safe and effective care\, we are driving improvements in the quality of care people receive. \nThroughout the Event – including the poster exhibition – delegates will be able to see many examples of how a focus on this is improving the quality of care people receive and the outcomes they experience. \nAction to transform care was set out in the Health and Social Care Delivery Plan\, published in December 2016. This included the need to increase the pace of change in a number of key areas including public health reform; health and social care integration; Realistic Medicine; and digital health. Along with the emerging priority to address the mental health needs of the people of Scotland\, this will guide the development of an Event programme that is guaranteed to engage delegates in some of the more important debates\, initiatives and innovations in how we are Working Together\, Improving Outcomes.

SUMMARY:WONCA Europe Conference 1919 (Bratislava\, Slovakia)
DESCRIPTION:WONCA Europe is the academic and scientific society for general practitioners in Europe. It has 47 member organisations and represents more than 120\,000 family physicians in Europe. \nGeneral Practice – the human side of medicine \nIn these times of intense scientific research and technological changes\, the human side of medicine is becoming more and more important. Therefore the main theme of our conference became “General practice – the Human Side of Medicine“. We believe that family doctors have to work on human and personal lifelong relations with their patients. More open relationship helps family doctors to increase the quality of prevention and care. To take care of our patients is more than just to diagnose them and to treat them. It also means tailoring the diagnostic process and treatment to the needs of our patients\, avoiding overdiagnosing and overtreatment. Health and happiness can´t be experienced individually\, alone\, but in a healthy and happy human society only. \nThe Scientific Committee has been preparing an exciting programme based on original abstracts and contributions from leading international scientific networks and special interest groups recognised by WONCA. We also offer interactive discussions between Slovak patient’s organisations and WONCA conference participants.
