SUMMARY:RSCEd R&R Healthcare Workshop (Edinburgh)
DESCRIPTION:Seminar event to update on Facuty of Remote and Rural Healthcare (FRRH) activity\, welcome new faculty members\, introduce new stakeholders to FRRH and to provide a platform for open discussion on the trajectory and activity of the FRRH. This event will serve as a working meeting to gather feedback and input from new FRRH members and stakeholders in remote and rural health. Learning outcomes from the day will be fed back into key work stream activity of the FRRH Executive Committee as well as being displayed on the FRRH webpage and social media channels. Discussion and speaker subjects will focus on the challenges and successes experienced in delivering remote and rural healthcare from a wide range of perspectives. A key workshop will focus on the faculty’s work on the creation of a global capabilities framework. This framework will deliver the following; Provide a description of the scope of practice and capabilities required of those working in clinical roles in remote and rural contexts e.g. for healthcare organizations and their employees Provide a foundation against which training providers can align course development for remote and rural health care professionals Act as a basis for development of clinical examinations in remote and rural healthcare. DESCRIPTION:Global citizenship is our national core value. Staff from across all staff groups in NHS Scotland already make a significant personal and professional contribution to global health in low and middle income countries. This valuable work not only helps to reduce common challenges such as disease epidemics but provides mutual learning opportunities bringing proven benefits for our NHS staff and healthcare system. \nIn June 2018\, the NHS Scotland Global Citizenship Programme was launched with the main aims (a) encouraging\, supporting and co-ordinating NHS Scotland staff and volunteers involvement in global health work and (b) supporting our international development commitment to our partner countries as set out in the Scottish Government International Development Strategy. DESCRIPTION:Following the success of the inaugural BMA Scottish conference in 2018\, we are delighted to present “Doctors under pressure: Supporting the profession in Scotland” – providing doctors across Scotland with the opportunity to gain insight and explore strategies to improve the quality of their working life. \nThis is your chance to meet your peers and hear from leaders of the profession about the future of medical care in Scotland\, to better understand how the pressures within the NHS and of modern medicine impact doctors\, and how doctors individually and collectively can manage and mitigate this to improve their wellbeing and professional fulfilment. You can take part in a wide range of insightful workshops addressing the many facets of doctors’ working lives and wellbeing today\, understand more about your contracts\, learn about pension developments and how to avoid the pensions tax trap\, how climate change is a critical healthcare issue\, medical volunteering overseas and support from NHS Scotland\, as well as hot topics in medical ethics. \nThe range of learning opportunities on offer should provide a worthwhile contribution to appraisal and revalidation. DESCRIPTION:WONCA Europe is the academic and scientific society for general practitioners in Europe. It has 47 member organisations and represents more than 120\,000 family physicians in Europe. \nGeneral Practice – the human side of medicine \nIn these times of intense scientific research and technological changes\, the human side of medicine is becoming more and more important. Therefore the main theme of our conference became “General practice – the Human Side of Medicine“. We believe that family doctors have to work on human and personal lifelong relations with their patients. More open relationship helps family doctors to increase the quality of prevention and care. To take care of our patients is more than just to diagnose them and to treat them. It also means tailoring the diagnostic process and treatment to the needs of our patients\, avoiding overdiagnosing and overtreatment. Health and happiness can´t be experienced individually\, alone\, but in a healthy and happy human society only. \nThe Scientific Committee has been preparing an exciting programme based on original abstracts and contributions from leading international scientific networks and special interest groups recognised by WONCA. We also offer interactive discussions between Slovak patient’s organisations and WONCA conference participants.
