Public Health Scotland (PHS) publish information gathered from the 2019 General Practice workforce survey. This information was originally due to be published in 2020, however it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey does not provide rural specific information.
Issue of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) 2
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) 2 covering the period 2021-23 was issued to support the delivery of the 2018 GP contract, specifically the transfer of the provision of services from general practice to HSCP/Health Boards. It seeks to clarify many contract related issues.

Scottish School of Primary Care publish Remote and rural General Practice in Scotland: descriptors and challenges
The SSPC paper authored by Prof John Gilles et al. gives historical context and comments on the role and challenges faced by a rural General Practitioner in light of the 2018 Scottish GP contract and other factors.
