The objectives of the main evaluation were to evaluate, providing learning points, recommendations for improvement and consider what would be needed if the scheme were expanded to include other MDT professions, not just GPs. The evaluation was to help the RTJ management team and others learn from the experience and particularly if the scheme may help GP recruitment and retention in rural areas. The outcome was a comprehensive evaluation report on the scheme released in January 2021.

Covid-19 disruption during 2020 meant that the main report had to be completed without taking in the views of general practices that had used the scheme; this was corrected by a survey undertaken in Spring 2021, the results of which are compiled in the supplementary report ready in November 2021.
